Our client is a leading provider of regeneration services in the UK, and we were asked to provide quantity surveying services from the contract start date to the completion date (18-weeks duration). The project was delivered for the local council and an upgrade to M&E systems along with associated building works, and the contract was NEC3 Option A (Activity Schedule).
Our services
We commercially managed the subcontractors which involved assessing their monthly applications for payment, preparing and issuing payment notices, reviewing compensation events, and providing support to the site manager and contracts manager regarding the subcontract obligations. We used our client’s Envision finance system to deliver these services where required.
We were responsible for managing our client’s main contract obligations which included preparing and issuing monthly applications for payment, managing the variation account, dealing with provisional sum matters, and attending monthly commercial meetings and risk register meetings. These services were provided through to final account which was an agreement we led.
Our client needed regular commercial information about the project, so we ensured monthly financial information was issued and that regular communication about project performance was provided.
The outcome
Our client’s project margin was delivered, and all final account matters were resolved at practical completion. The council were impressed that the project was completed to time, to budget and without contractor claims being made. This is a working model that will be used for the next 7 schemes committed to our client on the back of this project.
